“After The Last Sky” by Urban Angel

“After The Last Sky” by Urban Angel
in The Space at Nottingham Contemporary
on 25th and 26th August 2011 2pm and 7pm
This month experimental multimedia performance company Urban Angel bring brand new performance “After The Last Sky” to Nottingham Contemporary. This original piece of work directed by Dominic Shaw has been devised with a group of emerging artists from Nottingham. The piece is inspired by the writings of French artist Jean Genet and ties in with programmed events in the gallery between July and October this year.
After the last sky is devised performance piece which uses Jean Genet’s ‘The Maids’ and ‘Deathwatch’ and the exiled Palestinian writer Muhmoud Darwish’s poem ‘The Earth is Closing on us’ as the starting point. It investigates concepts of cross gender sexual and political power play, exile and class division. It has been devised over five weeks with a group of emerging theatre practitioners.

"After the Last Sky" is being performed in public for the first time at 2pm and 7pm on the 25th and 26th August in the Space at Nottingham Contemporary.
